Today we left Toad River rather early after a quick upload of pre-written blog material in the small restaurant at the Toad River lodge. Once again I was time challenged and thought is was after 7 am when it was only just after 6 am when I started the uploading. Therefore we left by about 7 am. We were headed to Whitehorse which is about 200 miles from the Alaskan border.
Our drive today was not quite as exciting, as it was a bit rainy. We saw wild horses, elk and a really old Buffalo. The scenery was pretty good and we did not drive for a really long time today as there were no other stopping points beyond Whitehorse that made sense.
Some things we did see that were interesting were Muncho lake which is the most amazing shade of Aqua Blue. It was quite beautiful. We also stopped at a small restaurant in Coal River (?) that made its own bread. The food was quite good and was a wonderful break in the day.
We stayed the night today at the Riverview Hotel. The place had been recently remodeled and was very pet friendly. Scott made a special trip just for me as I needed a cold beer. Whitehorse is a pretty big town as compared to the small towns we have been going through. It is also the capital of the Yukon Territory. We ordered takeout pizza and pasta from a local restaurant there that was quite good and delivered very hot!
More tomorrow as we cross over the border… - S&S
