January 2007

Well, I was kind of waiting to post again to see if Scott wanted to say a few things. He has been kind of busy though, so I guess I will give the latest update. Scott has a new job!

Scott finally got Fairbanks Natural Gas to listen to him and realize that he would be an asset to their company. Thank goodness as we were needing him to work, both for the money and our sanity. I have decided that Scott is not the type of guy who will be able to “retire” easily without some big projects to keep him busy. Scott is liking the job. It is much different than the high pressure situations he was dealing with in Florida and he is having to learn new things. but it is keeping him motivated. Once he gets up to speed he will be turned loose to maintain their storage facilities, meters and other equipment much like he did for FGT. However, on call is a rotating thing with four other people at least and he gets paid on call (9 hours) and paid for call outs. So, all in all it will be much less stressful than it was in Florida.

Scott is still playing Hockey about four nights a week as well. So, he is staying busy and for the most part happy. As for me, I am working away and have settled in quite nicely. I am working on some interesting projects and continue to teach in Florida. The Florida teaching is challenging and rewarding this semester and helps to keep me current. I hope to get to go to a few conferences in the near future. One conference is in Flroida I believe, so maybe I can take an extra day or so while I am there and check on the house, see friends, catch up on sunshine…

For exercise, I have been walking home for lunch. It is a vigorous 10 minute walk. I am really enjoying it as it gets me outside, out of the office and I have to walk back, so I can not be lazy :-) . There were a few days (-35 and -40) when the temperatures made it a bit difficult, but I will say I still walked and I survived! Actually I enjoyed it even at those temperatures.

Other than these things, our lives progress like normal. Hope all of you are having wonderful winters no matter where you are or what the weather is. I will write more as something exciting (or at least different) happens.

Take care! S&S

I know it has been sometime since we have updated this and most of you are probably tired of looking just to find we have been too busy to communicate properly! Well, here I am, writing an update because I have the day off from my day job :-) Scott however, is at work! Yes, he got a job with Fairbanks Natural Gas finally. It seems to be a bit slow for him still as they are not ready to let him just jump in. The company seems to be a bit disorganized, but aren’t we all. Anyway, the job is a good one and it is keeping him busy.

As for the house, no change. Still trying to fire the Realtor. We are thinking about trying to rent it. If it looks feasible, we might just take it off the market for a bit and see what happens. Anyway, we will keep you all posted and celebrate BIG when it actually sells.

As for me, I am still working at CDE and teaching at USF. I have about 20 students this semester, so they will keep me busy in my “down time”. I am encouraging them all to write blogs for the reflective pieces in our course this semester and it is pretty interesting what they have to say. I also am starting a professional blog elsewhere (http://www.schullo.com/blog) so that I can keep this one open for friends and family and not bore you all silly with my ruminations about technology and distance education. For those of you who want to read that type of stuff, you know how to get there now.

I added a few new pictures to the Gallery of our first snow. I have many more to add when I get time, so keep a look out. Hope all is well for all of you. Good luck in 2007. Stay in touch and send positive house selling vibes!

Take care!
