It has been a while since we have written and a lot has been happening here in Alaska. In fact, today the temperature rose above freezing, whooo hooo! Lets’ see, Scott is enjoying his new job and I am feeling very good about mine as of late. We are broke, but staying busy none the less. One thing that being a bit financially challenged has done is allowed me more time to cook. I am trying all kinds of new recipes. I have really discovered the ease and variety that a crock pot offers.
As for other things, we went to a dog sled race that started and ended in down town Fairbanks. I am putting some pictures of this and other events that have happened lately up in the gallery so you can enjoy them as well. If the weather holds, we plan to go to the Ice Art show that is held every year in the same campground that we stayed in for quite a while. They have single block and multi-block competitions. If we make it, I will add some pictures.
A few weeks ago we had a visiting moose in the back yard. I snapped a few pictures (without getting too close) check out the gallery to see them.
We also have had a small crisis with Thor. He had to have surgery. We found that he had a paralytic larynx. This was causing him to have trouble breathing and would eventually have killed him. So, he had surgery and is recuperating nicely now. Only problem is we are supposed to keep him for barking for a while so his throat can heal. That and he has had to stay inside. I never thought a dog would have worse cabin fever than the people.
Well, we will write more soon. Hope you are all doing well. Keep in touch! We miss you! - S&S
