I’ve been identified (tagged) by Heidi to participant in a challenge it requires a book and as Heidi said it seems to be quite interesting. For those of you new to blogging, you can follow the trail and see not only how this started, but get some really good ideas on new reads! You might also learn some new vocabulary along the way…
This could be considered a meme (your second new word). I like Heidi’s example which can be easier to process than the actual definition. She compares the challenge to “a 21st century version of a chain letter except we’re not exchanging $$ or recipes or even good wishes for luck but rather we’re giving our community a chance for a glimpse of what inspires, interests, or edifies” which sounds much better than you will have x years of bad luck if you do not pass this on
So, here are the rules:
1. Pick up the nearest book (of at least 123 pages).
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the next three sentences (sentences 6-9).
5. Tag five people who blog posts you read on a regular basis.
Here is my response:
An orange Post-it on her desk catches my attention. “Is this where she wants the records sent?”
“Yeah.”
I slip the address into my pocket. “I will take care of it,” I say.
Unfortunately this little snippet of the book does not have any real substance. However, it was a good book. This came from My Sister’s Keeper by Jodi Picoult. It is about a young girl who was born (engineered) for the sole purpose of being a donor for her sister who has a rare form of Leukemia.
Now for the hard part. I have only a handful of people that I know personally that really blog. Many I now read blogs, but few actually post. So, after a search to see if any that I think might be and I just have not heard about it yet, I have no real people to tag. Here is who I would like to tag. Maybe they have blogs I do not know about and after reading my post will let me know where they are and continue the challenge!
- Amy - Who I know reads many interesting things if she is not too busy working.
- Melissa - Who is spending much time outdoors in her new Hawaiian home and I am not sure she has time to fit in books, but I would enjoy hearing about what she is reading.
- Kim - A great friend who sends me intriguing books and I am sure is reading something worth while even though the twins and her job keep her busy.
- Tina - A good friend and colleague who is currently at USF and trying to be a new professor. She may or may not have time for pleasure reading, so we may get some heavier stuff from here.
- Sonja - My cousin, good friend and email pal. I know that you read a lot and I am sure you have something interesting as well as inspirational. I know you have a myspace page, but I do not know if you have a blog. Guess I will have to check.
If I find blogs for these people I will link them in, but if not maybe they will all leave a comment with their responses.

Have you guys heard about http://www.EmploymentCrossing.com? It is a great site, and it has a massive number of
job openingsthat you can’t find at other sites. It’s easy to check out, and you might just get lucky. It’s a private job board, so it shows you every job in the market, as opposed to public boards that just show jobs employers pay to post. This site has every job in the market and not just a few, so if you’re looking to fill job openings, check out www.employmentcrossing.com
